The Colorado River used to be one of the greatest rivers in all of America, and has sustained many cultures before the modern era. Even today, the Colorado River provides resources for 36 million people and irrigates four million acres of land. However, the Colorado is facing many issues today, including diversion of water flow, over use, and rising climate temperatures. The Colorado's waterways have been greatly reduced, and the end of the river no longer reaches the ocean. The Colorado is expected to lose 10-30% of its current water flow by 2050.
This does not affect just us, but also the fish native to the Colorado, including the Humpback Chub, the Colorado Pikeminnow, and the Razorback Sucker. All of these species are being endangered by the changes to the Colorado, and recovery efforts are still trying to find viable solutions.
